Referred Visa

Kenyan travel document & referred visa holders:

  • Provide proof of having host in Tanzania
  • The host should provide detailed information including
    • Physical address
    • Telephone number
    • Employment or Business (ID)
  • Non-Kenyan Citizens: $50 (Single entry)
  • Non-Kenyan Citizens: $100 (Double entry)
  • Approval for referred visa is given from the Immigration head office within 6 weeks of submitting application.
Transit Visa
  • A transit visa is permission to cross through Tanzania from one entry point to another
  • It is issued for a maximum of two weeks, provided that the applicant is in possession of onward tickets, sufficient funds and an entry visa to the country of destination
This type of visa is NOT issued at the High Commission, it is issued at boarder or point of entry.

PLEASE NOTE:

  1. Cash is NOT accepted
  2. All checks and money orders should be made Payable to the High Commission of Tanzania, in Nairobi, Kenya
  3. An additional bank-processing fee of 16.00 USD applies to foreign cheques. Stamps cannot be accepted as payment.
  4. Next day service is an extra $50 and same day service is available for $100
  5. ALL APPLICANTS ARE STRONGLY ADVISED TO OBSERVE AND COMPLY WITH ALL VISA REGULATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS OUTLINED BELOW BEFORE SUBMITTING AN APPLICATION.
  6. ALL INCOMPLETE VISA APPLICATIONS SHALL BE RETURNED TO THE SENDER TO BE COMPLETED FIRST.
  7. Visa Fee is NON REFUNDABLE

Hours of Preparation and Processing time

  1. Visa Application drop off: Monday to Friday from 9.00 am to 1.00pm.
  2. Visa pickups: Monday to Thursday from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm and Friday from 12.00 noon to 2.00 pm
  3. Visa processing takes a minimum of five (5) working days for regular process.
  4. The duration to remain in the country is determined by the immigration officer at the port of entry.
  5. All visas are valid from the date of issuance. In the event a visa expires before it is utilized, the applicant will have to re-apply for a new one.
  6. Walk-in is available, no appointment necessary.
  7. It is emphasized that nationals and persons of the above mentioned countries and/or categories above may not be allowed entry into Tanzania without being in possession of referred visas. See “types of visa” for more information about referred visas
